One of the things I’ve learned from listening to more modern productions, and something I’ve actively put to use in this album, is working with sub bass. In this example you can hear how much fuller the sound becomes, how it can have more impact just by adding a sub bass to the mix. In this excerpt, you hear the Time Travel bridge section of the song, first without the sub bass, then with it added in. The drums have been removed so you can feel and hear the difference of the added bass more distinctly.
